Emphasis
on In-Kind Compensation
These project personnel are setting up for a village compensation
session, which includes the distribution of in-kind goods. People
receiving compensation are given a choice between cash and a wide
range of in-kind items. The options include everything from bicycles
to plows, and from grinders to sewing machines. Residents say the
in-kind goods can be very helpful because their villages generally
don’t have banks for convenient savings of cash, and because
it is very difficult to buy the goods in distant towns and transport
them to their homes. |
