ExxonMobil is the fourth largest oil and gas producer on the Norwegian continental shelf, having equity in more than 20 producing gas and oil fields, and an interest of about 10% in Norwegian infrastructure for gas transportation and treatment. The company operates the Jotun, Balder, Ringhorne and Sigyn fields.

In 2005, ExxonMobil consolidated the Production Operation units in the UK and Norway into one. The new unit, North Sea Production (NSP), is operated from two locations, Stavanger and Aberdeen.  NSP is responsible for operation of the Ringhorne, Balder, Jotun, and Sigyn fields in Norway, and the Beryl Area and the Sage Gas Plant in the UK.
