If you could shape your training program, what would it look like?
 
You will be encouraged to hear that, at ExxonMobil, we consider our employees' development to be a crucial investment and we provide technical and non-technical training through a variety of different means.
 
Your specific training is designed to fit with the job you are undertaking and is aimed at equipping you with the necessary skills to become an effective leader in our Organisation.
 
From the start you will be doing a real job and genuinely contributing to the business. We believe that on-the-job experiences still present the best learning opportunities, but this will be supported by proprietary technical and functional training. In addition, we actively encourage you to take ownership of your career by identifying personal development needs and opportunities in line with business objectives. To help support you in achieving this, we have a number of structured development programmes in place, designed to help you realise your full potential. For example, you may undertake a modular Business and Personal Development programme at the London Business School (EGDP); it may be that you attend a fully comprehensive ExxonMobil specific training school at the Thunderbird University in USA, or complete formal and informal training initiatives within your specific function. This thorough and tailored approach to managing development has proved to be very successful and rewarding.
 
We encourage a continuous learning environment and, as such, will seek to identify opportunities for your personal development via assignments (some international) as well as providing you with a mentor who will help you launch and build your career.

More about EGDP
We’ve joined forces with the world renowned London Business School to develop the ExxonMobil Graduate Development Programme, (EGDP), a truly unique offering amongst graduate employers.
 
Run by LBS, this two year modular programme had been designed to equip graduates with a portfolio of fundamental business and people management skills. The programme is split into seven modules: six of which are held at the London Business School in central London.
 
The modules focus on:
 
Business Strategy, Finance, Marketing, Technology, Operations, HR, Development and excellence in team work.
 
Throughout the programme, you and your graduate peer group will have the opportunity to learn more about Business Strategy, ExxonMobil and develop the skills you need to move through the Organisation.  For the duration of the programme, you will be taught by experts from LBS who are internationally renowned in their fields.
 
In addition to EGDP:

1. We actively encourage employees to study for chartered status where applicable eg: IChemE, CIMA
2. Some institutes recognise the internal training that ExxonMobil offers, and 'fast-track' accreditation has been developed by some ExxonMobil functions in the UK with professional bodies like the IChemE, to enable you to get your professional qualifications as quickly as possible.
 
Corporate Induction
Corporate Induction takes place in your first week with the Company and gives you an invaluable opportunity to meet the rest of your graduate intake, gain an overview of the organisation and an understanding of some of its key operations and philosophies. To develop further your problem-solving and team-working skills, you will also participate in an outdoor activity course in the New Forest. Corporate Induction ensures that your transition into working life is as smooth as possible, and that you also enjoy the social side of working at ExxonMobil.
 
Continuous Development
Regular reviews and appraisals with your supervisor keep your continual growth on track, but we actively encourage you to take ownership of your own career by identifying personal development needs and opportunities in line with business needs. We will also provide you with a mentor who will help you launch and build your career.
