ExxonMobil has a long-standing history of environment-related community work. We encourage the involvement of local people in activities aimed at improving their local environment, maximising energy efficiency and managing waste through recycling. We also have an ongoing commitment to make all of our operations more energy efficient. To complement this commitment, we also support energy efficiency initiatives in the community.
Our flagship programme, the ExxonMobil Energy Challenge, involves ExxonMobil working in partnership with Community Service Volunteers, National Energy Action and Energy Action Scotland to tackle fuel poverty at the household level. Volunteers, who have frequent and often exclusive access to vulnerable households that are hard to reach, have been trained to offer practical advice on making changes to improve energy efficiency. We also work closely with CREATE (Centre for Research, Education and Training in Energy), a government and industry supported organisation, which is dedicated to the promotion of energy saving education in UK schools and colleges. Energy savings have a positive effect on reducing carbon emissions, so it's important for everyone to be encouraged to use energy more efficiently.
