Business Conduct

At ExxonMobil we have long recognised the importance and value of business integrity. It is enshrined in our policies and in the guiding principle for how we run our business:

The way in which we conduct our business is as important as the results themselves. Integrity is the cornerstone of corporate citizenship.  We expect everyone - directors, officers, employees and suppliers acting on our behalf - to observe the highest standards of ethics. It is also the company's absolute requirement that its activities comply with all applicable laws.

Our Standards of Business Conduct were first published nearly 40 years ago and are at the heart of all our operations and processes.  The policies covered by the Standards of Business Conduct have been continually enhanced over the years They include ones dealing with business ethics, conflicts of interest, antitrust, equal employment opportunity, harassment in the workplace, and safety, health and environmental performance.

Every year employees are required to confirm they are complying with company policies governing business conduct. Every four years managers are required to conduct a formal business practice review of the Standards of Business Conduct with all employees to test alignment and identify areas for improvement.
